1 The Security Risks of Climate Change and Environmental Innovations as Countermeasures

Climate change has brought about geographical instability and national security risks such as unstable water and food resources as well as mass migration from loss of housing and residences. Measures against poverty and deterioration of communities from such disasters are therefore important in this context. In this session, we will examine the relationship between climate change and peacebuilding, and discuss the various initiatives as well as the level of awareness of challenges of the players that are contributing at the frontline via technology and business.

Keynote Speech Jacque Attali(President, Positive Planet)

2 Securing Peace in an Increasingly Unstable Digitized World

The Internet has been said to bring forth a free and democratic society for the people. The younger generation uses SNS to gather information from digital media and occasionally create movements that sway public opinion. However, some have said that this is the rise of digital despotism since this data-driven society also means that all our movements can be monitored. In this session, we will discuss and look into how we can maintain a peaceful, international society as we tackle the good and

bad of the Internet and the data-driven society.

      ≪Moderator and Panelists≫

・Masafumi KANEKO (Senior Research Fellow, PHP Institute, Inc.)

・Ken KATAYAMA (Microsoft Japan Cybersecurity and Privacy Policy Lead)

      ・Ken JIMBO (Professor, Keio University)

・Keiko HAMADA (Editor in Chief, Business Insider Japan)

・Tatsuhiko YAMAMOTO (Professor, Keio University Law School)

3 Commitment to Education for Lasting Peace in the New Era

Creating educational opportunities will help to alleviate poverty and resolve conflicts. The content and quality of education are also important as it will help a multiracial/multiethnic society to live together in harmony as well as giving a head start for women to be independent. As a society, what can we do so that everyone gains access to an equal and fair education in our aim to abolish poverty and bring about peace? What are the kinds of support that we can provide to boost the learning abilities of people who are living in unstable circumstances? We will discuss the initiatives for educational support in post-disaster reconstruction times as well as to create peace.

      ≪Moderator and Panelists≫

      ・Kazuhiro YOSHIDA(Professor, Hiroshima University)

      ・Mihoko KUMAMOTO(Director, UNITAR Hiroshima Office)

      ・Takahiko YUNOKAWA(Founder CEO, SuRaLa Net Co.,Ltd.)

      ・Yoshitaka SHINOHARA(Director, NPO EDOTEC GLOBAL)

・Farzana YAQOOB(Former Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development in the State

      of Azad Jammu & Kashmir)

4 Realizing Peace Through the Social Impact of Art

Can art (such as music, movies, and literature) that allude to peace really bring about peace? Or are they just confined to mere poses or fashion? In this session, we will brainstorm the fundamental themes and look into the unique ways art can install peace as well as its 'power of criticism' together with critics and artists. We will also review the challenges and essence of how art alludes to peace by comparing the different ways and approaches we can adopt in each artistic genre.

      ≪Moderator and Panelists≫

      ・Chiaki HAYASHI (Co-Founder, loftwork Inc.)

・Tshunehiro UNO (Critic / The Chief editor of PLANETS magazine)

      ・Takiya KUWAHARA (Shijinrui Poet)

      ・Kenji SEKINE (President, UNITED PEOPLE)

・Tetra TANIZAKI (Professor, Kyoto University of Art and Ddesign / Media Producer)

      【Second Day November 6(Tue)9:30~12:30】

5 Achieving Peace Through the Power of Sports

Many believe that the contribution to peace by sports will strengthen the messages of peace. Sports encourages peace and development, and nurtures tolerance and mutual understanding. Sports also inculcates the concept of peace through the spirit of fair play, and sports activities also help to reduce poverty and develop talents. We will review and consider the role of sports as a mean to realize peace and its social significance based on the various benefits it brings about to the society.

      ≪Moderator and Panelists≫

・Aya NOGUCHI (Assistant Professor, Juntendo University)

・Mie KAJIKAWA (Founder and Representative Director, Sport For Smile)

・Kazuhiko SAITO (Professor , Hiroshima University)

・Dai TAMESUE (Chief Administrative Officer , Athletesociety)

・Shohei HIGUCHI (Managing Director, Little Bridge)

・Lorena Rodriguez-Alvarez(Communications and Outreach Director, Peace and Sport)

6 Altruistic Capitalism and a New Path to Peace

Global companies that are even more powerful than the countries have appeared in our world that is dominated by free markets. The country's economy - originally part of the society - is now dictating the rules of society, and non-market values and social norms are gradually being pushed aside. To prevent the collapse of peace caused by anxiety elements accumulating in such a society, we will look into and discuss the principles of the relatively new field of behavioral economics

to see how we can improve capitalism.
